Antonio Cubillo Ferreira (1930-2012) was a Spanish politician and founder of the Canary Islands Independence Movement (CIIM). He was born in Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands. In the 1960s, he became a prominent activist for the independence of the Canary Islands from Spain. In 1964 he founded the CIIM, which aimed to promote independence for the Canary Islands through peaceful means. Cubillo was arrested in 1978, along with other members of the CIIM, and jailed for 14 years. Following his release, he continued to advocate for Canary Islands independence. Cubillo died in Algiers, Algeria in 2012, where he had been living in exile since 2006.
